Custom Portraits
A
Sculpture Portrait is different from an ordinary portrait, because your
Loved Ones will be hand-sculpted in clay, using a traditional
low-relief style.
"I love using my gifts to create hand-sculpted portraits of
your Loved Ones! Whether it's a grandparent, child, or someone in
between... I will capture their personality and expression in a way
that ordinary portraits cannot compare. "
Shawn Slother Sculptor

"Thank
you for doing such a great job on the portrait of our CEO, Joyce
Bender. She was very surprised when we presented it to her. It was
such an unusual gift and you were a pleasure to work with. We'll
definitely be in touch for future events."

As many of us know, a home or church is more than just a building. It is where so many of our happy occassions occur, and holds a special place in our hearts! I
will provide a creative interpertation that photos cannot equal. This
gift for you and your family will become a Treasured Keepsake for years
to come!

"Shawn
created a sculptural "portrait" of St. Paul's Church after we put on a
new addition, and it is truly a beautiful piece. A number of church
members bought copies, myself included, and display them proudly. Not
only is the sculpture itself lovely, but his ability to personalize
each one with different colors and inscriptions makes it ideal for a
unique presentation piece."
Rev. Susan Keppy St. Paul's Episcopal Church Lewiston, NY
Suggestions for Choosing a Photo The photo you submit will be the Sculpture Portrait you receive! Whether
a traditional or digital photo, the greater the detail and clarity, the
better. Here are some suggestions for your photo:- Subject(s) at least 2" in height from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin.
- Choose an expressive photo of the subject(s). Their personality will be captured in their Sculpture Portrait!
- A
3/4 view of the subject works best, but a "straight on" view will make
a nice portrait also. Profiles should be avoided, if possible. (A 3/4
view is one in which the subject is turned slightly away from the
camera)
- Subject(s) is not in shadow or "washed out" by flash or sunlight.
- Photos of Pets and Children look best when taken at their eye-level.
- If your photo contains multiple subjects, please note the one(s) for your portrait.
- If
your Sculpture Portrait consists of multiple subjects, one photo
of all of them is preferred, so that their proportions are correct to
one another. However, seperate photos of each subject may be able to
be combined into one portrait.
- Favorite jewelry may be added to the subject from a seperate photo.
If
you have any doubt about the quality of a photo...submit it, and I will
let you know if it will make a great Sculpture Portrait!Of course, all submitted photos will be returned, along with your completed Sculpture Portrait.

Frequently Asked Questions
How closely will the Sculpture Portrait match my photo? With
over 15 years of experience as a professional sculptor, I guarantee my
work! If you are not satisfied with your portrait, prior to molding,
you'll receive a full refund. What should the wording be for my Sculpture Portrait? The
wording can be anything you want. The possibilites are endless! It can be a favorite poem or verse,
wedding vows, important dates, or the name(s) of the subject. If
you're unsure, I can help you with this as well...Just ask!
Why not use a portrait company? When
you commission a Sculpture Portrait with me, you'll receive my personal
attention throughout the process and your portrait will be Made in the
USA. You'll know the sculptor that is creating your treasured
keepsake, and I fully guarantee your satisfaction. Whereas, with a
portrait company...you'll be assigned to an anonymous artist overseas
and treated like a number. Although they may state they offer a
money-back guarantee, their company is beyond US juristiction and
offers little legal protection for your refund.
How long will it take to receive my Sculpture Portrait? Once
I receive your photo and deposit, I will have your original clay
sculpture ready for approval within 10-12 days. Upon your approval,
the molding, casting, and finishing will require 3-4 days. Of course I
can work with you for an event with a quick turn-around, or a Gift
Certificate is also an option.
In what condition will I receive my Sculpture Portrait? Your
approved portrait will arrive within a shadowbox and is ready to be displayed
on the wall. No additional materials or steps will be needed!
Can I order duplicate Sculpture Portraits once my original is sculpted? Yes,
I can cast additional portraits for family and friends at greatly
reduced rates, using your original. Many times, family members will split the total cost of the original and duplicates, so that each one may have a Sculpture Portrait. Of course, each duplicate may be
personalized by the choices available (Finish, Matting, and
Shadowbox). As always, the personalized wording is up to you, for each
one!
